ACR ResQLink+ PLB saves the day

A PLB is one of the most important things you can carry with you when you're out hiking, and here's why!

Megan bought an ACR ResQLink+ PLB from us and took it with her to Hike the Great Ocean Walk, along Victoria's famous Great Ocean Rd.

The Great Ocean Walk starts in Apollo Bay and ends at the Twelve Apostles – approximately a 100 kilometre walk which takes 34.5hrs overall to complete. It of Course features some of Australia's most spectacular scenery along the rugged coastline, and is by no means an easy feat.

Megan started along the 700 metre beach route, but realised after checking her GPS after approximately 900 metres that she had missed the sign to turn off, as the sign had been blown over by high winds.

She turned back but saw that the Tide was starting to get quite close, so she called 000, who instructed her to turn on the PLB. The ResQLink+ PLB was activated for approximately one hour, which contacted emergency services, along with Megan's listed emergency contact.

An SES volunteer and two police officers arrived at approximately 2:30pm, and then a police helicopter. Megan was winched into the helicopter and transported to Port Campbell. Police later drove her back to the Great Ocean Walk trail, where she continued her hiking the next day.

So as you can see, it certainly pays to have a PLB handy!

'Thank you so much for a product that just works!' says Megan.
