Navionics SonarCharts wins 2012 DAME award

Navionics SonarCharts have won the 22nd annual Design award at METS, in the Marine Equipment and Related Software category.

This product was up against 114 others from 25 different countries around the world. It was chosen as the winner by an independent, international jury, for its ability to "enable large-scale displays that incorporate automated and global daily updates of bathymetrical data".

Bathymetrical data is a main feature of the XL Platinum and XL3 Platinum plus charts, which are available from CH Smith Marine and were released at the Melbourne Boat Show in July 2012.

Unlike other maps, the bathymetrical map layer reveals incredible seabed detail, created by integrating hydrographic office charts with data provided by Navionics community users. Essentially, you are able to map marine depths and hidden gorges etc. which have never before been discovered, and upload them to the Navionics website. The updated charts are shared amongst the Navionics online community with Freshest Data, which is able to be downloaded within 24 hours. Freshest Data is able to be accessed through many platforms including Plotter GPS, iPad, iPhone and WebApp.

The jury consider this product to be a glimpse of the future in the chartware sector, with a tremendously exciting development in the area of marine Navigation.

Through SonarCharts, the best detail ever of a seabed is able to be provided to a boater, providing peace of mind when on the water.

Having won many other DAME awards in the past, Navionics continue to prove themselves as a company who frequently provide innovative concepts, changing the ways in which people Boat.
