Meteorology is the study of weather conditions through observing the state of the atmosphere, air pressure, temperature, humidity and wind.

Common weather instruments used in meteorology include:

Barometers measure atmospheric pressure or the pressure exerted by the weight of the Earth's atmosphere above a particular location.

Thermometers measure temperature of the air, or the kinetic energy of the molecules within air.

Hygrometers measure relative humidity or moisture content in the atmosphere. To calculate humidity, readings of temperature and air pressure are taken into account.

Anemometers measure the wind speed and the direction the wind is blowing from at the site where it is mounted.
