SimNet

Simrad Intelligent Marine Network is a communications protocol accessing NMEA 2000 standards used exclusively by recent Simrad products.

The secret behind SimNet is its simplicity. The cables are easy to route and require only a 10mm hole to pass through, a perfect solution for both retro-fit and new-builds. SimNet features automatic setup - just plug and play!

The extended use of active SimNet sensors, e.g. depth/speed/temp sensor and active GPS Antenna, not only makes installation easy, but also makes data available to all connected displays on the vessel. Even with the NavStation or Glass Bridge switched off you will still have GPS position, Course and speed available on the instruments or autopilot display.

The highly reliable network is backward compatible - making it easy to add exciting new Simrad products to the SimNet installation already onboard. Other manufacturers' products can easily be connected to SimNet using the AT10 Universal NMEA0183 interface, and the new AT10HD ensures that high speed Heading information is continuously relayed to >Radar, Autopilot and other dynamic systems.

Simrad products certified for NMEA2000® can also be connected to a NMEA2000® backbone using one single SimNet to Micro-C drop cable, available in the SimNet accessory program.

SimNet features:

  • Easy to install - thin cables, small plugs.
  • "Plug and Play" - no complicated set-up during installation.
  • Unique ability to operate with multiple sources, e.g. two GPS systems.
  • Intelligent use of available data.
  • Compatible with most equipment already on board (NMEA0183, NMEA2000®)
