New Navionics+ and Navionics Update
Navionics are offering a new electronic Chart standard, providing more content and the best value for marine areas, through Navionics+ and Navionics Update.
Navionics+ is for new customers, while Navionics Update is for existing Navionics card owners. By connecting your card to the Navionics website, you are then able to choose your coverage area and simply download.
If you don''t already own a Navionics card, you are able to purchase the Navionics+ card from CH Smith Marine and either get us to preload it for you, or you can do it yourself.
Navionics+ can be easily updated from your home, as demonstrated through this video, Navionics Updates is demonstrated here and Sonar Charts demonstration.
These cards offer you more content and great value because you get 12 months of Freshest Data updates to Nautical Charts, new SonarCharts and Community Edits. These charts are even updated daily!
Both products include (for eligible plotters) the Sonar Charts Layer, while Navionics+ is a Gold product, with additional detail to Sonar Charts. Previously Sonar Charts have been exclusively available to Platinum+.
These are exciting products because one SKU for each, allows download of any region in Australia and New Zealand, or any other of the 7 regions that cover the world.
The idea with the Navionics+ card is that you choose the bit to download that you want to Fish in today. Don''t try to download ALL WA or Queensland at once. The system will tell you the file size, when you select the area to be download. The speed will depend on your internet connection, however at average Current speeds each portion takes 8 to 10 minutes . If you are one of the lucky few to have the NBN, this will be much faster and not an issue.
For most people day fishing, down load a small area say Freo to Rotnest, Sydney Harbour, or Port Phillip Bay etc. Down load other areas as the need arises, for free, with in the next 12 months. The areas don''t have to be joined unless you are traveling by Boat.
Remember to update the card to the latest data for your areas of operation before the 12 months expires. After that you will need to purchase an update card ($163) that allows further updates for another 12 months if required. Your existing Navionics+ Card card can still be used without upgrade after the 12 months, it just wont be as up-to-date as it used to be.
