Lowrance Hand Held VHF Radios Help Mates4Mates

A team of wounded Australian Defence Force personnel travelled 980km from Sydney to Brisbane in kayaks, in the inaugural Mates4mates Sea Kayak Adventure Challenge.

Aimed to help wounded, injured and ill Defence personnel rebuild their life skills and personal resilience, as well as raise awareness of the emotional, economic and social challenges facing many returned service personnel, this trip of endurance was helped along by the use of Lowrance Link 2 DSC VHF Hand Held Radios.

These IPX7 waterproof floating hand held VHF Radios allow you to receive bearings and distance data from up to 20 other Lowrance Link 2 units, with the 'Get Buddy' feature.

With an expected Range of about 5-10km distance at sea level, depending on wave height, the Sea Kayak Adventure Challenge team also received a maximum Range connection of 21km to a coastal VHF Repeater.

The challenge co-ordinator made good use of the Target Call feature which enabled him  to speak directly to a specifc Link 2 VHF radio using the MMSI number. The function helped the team to keep in touch with one another for moral support and encouragement along the Way.

The next major Kayak Challenge for Mates4mates will be from the 26th of July travelling from Brisbane to Townsville. To help out this great cause then Donate Today.

Based in Brisbane, Mates4Mates harnesses the strength of an iconic Australian "mateship" trait, to help Current and ex service personnel rebuild their life skills and emotional resilience.
