This award recognises outstanding achievement specifically in the retail of marine products.

The criteria has been modified this year and points were awarded over 5 categories.

· the business has achieved sustained growth

· continually improves its products and service to its customers.

· demonstrates leadership and innovation

· demonstrates it consistently exceeds customer expectations

· contributes towards a positive future for the boating industry.

The citation accompanying the award reads as follows:

"The business has achieved very impressive growth figures over the last 5 years from a financial perspective. The business is also continuing to grow as an employer with 2 new positions created in 2013 and plans to appoint a further 2 staff in 2014.

The business is a Leader in both its physical and online stores.

In December 2013 the business launched its new website that was 2 years in the making.  The new online store has many new features from a retailer and consumer perspective. The new track and trace system enables not only staff but also the consumer to know precisely where the goods are at any time.

The new system has massive potential for continued growth.

The business maintains a healthy mix of new and repeat business.  An indication that the business meets customer expectation is that close to half of business is customers returning.

Managing Director Rod Smith has personally made a huge contribution to the industry serving as BIA President for many years.  Rod continues to provide informed and constructive advice to the BIA General Manager on significant issues.  His business website and news feeds are a reliable source of information and knowledge for consumers."
