Trim

  1. The Way a Boat floats in relation to the horizon, Bow up, Bow down or even. To balance a Boat by shifting its cargo or contents.
  2. To adjust a boat's horizontal running angle by altering the outboard or Stern drive's thrust up or down.
  3. To set a sail in correct alignment to the wind to maximise efficiency. To adjust (the sails and yards) so that they receive the wind properly. The process of positioning and adjusting the angle of sails or “Trimming” to catch the wind in the most efficient Way.
    This procedure is normally undertaken in response to wind changes, such as direction and strength.
