Target Separation

Target Separation is the minimum distance between two objects that is required by a fishfinder (sonar) or radar to distinguish two objects as distinct targets (i.e. two fish hanging close together, or a fish hanging close to structure). As the water depth increases, target separation diminishes with greater distnace between targets required for separaton due to the need for longer Pulse Width to achieve greater depth.
