Acronym for Man Over Board; a situation in which a person has fallen from the Boat into the water. Any person that observes the man-over-board should immediately inform any crew members, while constantly maintaining visual contact with the person in the water.
Modern technology such as the Raymarine lifeTag assist MOB situations, by Sounding an alarm when the lifeTag is out of Range or is immersed in water. The lifeTag pendant simultaneously plots search and rescue (SAR) information such as a Waypoint on Raymarine chartplotters for faster and more accurate location of the MOB.
