Hot Start

A GPS unit can utilise a hot start is when the device remembers the last calculated position and the satellites in view, the almanac used (information about all the satellites in the constellation), the >UTC Time and then makes an attempt to lock onto the same satellites to calculate a new position. This is the quickest GPS lock but only works if the unit is generally in the same location as it was when the GPS was last turned off. (c.f. >warm start, cold start)
