Bow Thruster

A bow thruster or stern thruster is a transversal propulsion device built into, or mounted to, either the Bow or Stern, of a Ship, Boat or Yacht, to make it more maneuverable. Bow thrusters make docking easier, since they allow the captain to turn the vessel to Port or Starboard, without using the main engine and >Rudder, which requires forward motion to be effective.

A Stern thruster work in the same Way, fitted at the Stern. Large ships might have multiple Bow thrusters and Stern thrusters. In cross winds and tight spaces berthing is made easier with Bow &/or Stern thruster!!
