Where to mount your GPS Antenna

The Lowrance Point-1 NMEA 2000 GPS Antenna, B&G ZG100 GPS Antenna and Simrad GS25 GPS Antenna are unlike any other position-only antennas, in that they provide Heading for accurate Boat direction at any speed and radar/chart overlay.

To be able to achieve this, they contain a very sensitive electronic Compass in the housing. Therefore, it is important to ensure they are mounted in the correct position, at least 1m away from anything that emits a magnetic field i.e. Trolling motors, VHF antennas, and radars.

Like all GPS antennas, they should be mounted with a clear, unobstructed view of the sky in order to ensure quality signals from the satellites. The guide below shows the optumum positioning for your Antenna.
