The Platil brand is known the world over as an innovator of monofilament fishing line. Platil's proprietary method to produce monofilament fishing line was first developed in the 1950s and marketed globally under the name Trofil. Since 1984, the Trofil inventor established an independent company to concentrate specifically on monofilament production; MONOFIL-TECHNIK GmbH. Today MONOFIL-TECHNIK GmbH produces monofilament from almost every thermoplastic available on the world market today. These monofilaments are used in anything from tennis strings, cutting line, synthetic turf to chair coverings and of course fishing lines.
