BOAT LIGHTS & TORCHES

The positioning and technical requirements of navigation lights installed on recreational boats are required to comply with The International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972 ; commonly known as COLREGS. The local Marine Safety Authorities in each Australian state enforce the COLREGS requirements and can provide a summary of those requirements as they apply in your local area.

But to get the essentials, the National Marine Safety Committee's, Safeboating website has a great brochure providing tips for correct installation of navigation lights on recreational water craft.

There are many advantages to using LED lighting over the traditional incandescent or fluorescent in the areas of power use, longevity, durability and safety.
